Avocado Dip

An olidie but a goodie!  This is one of the quickest, easiest dips, spreads or condiments to prepare.  All you really need are avocados and add whatever you have going eg lemon, lime, coriander, garlic etc.

Avocados are almost a complete food, rich in antioxidant vitamins A, C and E, some B complex, potassium, a little protein, starch and great fats.  They are reputed to be good for your heart, digestion and our sex life!

Preparation:  3 minutes

Quantity:    1 cup

Avocado Dip

  • 1 large peeled avocado
  • 2/3 cup plain yoghurt or goat yoghurt
  • 1 diced tomato (if in season)
  • dash or two of cayenne pepper or 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • sea salt and black pepper


  1. Mash avodado with a fork until smooth
  2. Add yoghurt, tomato, cayenne.  Blend until smooth.  (this can be done in a blender, food processor or with a fork).
  3. Add sea salt and fresh black pepper to taste
  4. Serve with mixed raw vegetables or with fish or chicken.


  • Best made a maximum of 1 hour before serving.
  • When storing in the fridge, place the pip of the avocado in with the dip to prevent the dip ‘browning’.
