Baklava Baked Pears
May 14, 2020

Using similar spices and flavours this is a deliciously rustic and very simple take on the baklava.

Use whatever nuts or seeds you enjoy or have on hand, it will still work magic.  Enjoy.

Baklava Baked Pears
Preparation:  10 minutes

Cooking time:  approx. 30 – 40 minutes

Serves:  8

  • 6 pears
  • 1 cup nuts (mix of walnuts, pistachios and hazelnuts or almonds)
  • 3 Tbsp organic butter
  • 1 Tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 Tbsp honey

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius or 350°F.
  2. Wash the pears, and half each one.  Gently remove the seeds & small amount of the centre for each.
  3. Place the pears flesh-side-up in a baking dish.
  4. Gently melt the butter together with the honey and vanilla on a low heat. Leave to the side.
  5. In a high speed blender or food processor, pulse the nuts, coconut sugar, cinnamon and clove until nuts are roughly chopped.
  6. Add in the remaining wet ingredients (butter, vanilla and honey mix) and gently mix together well.
  7. Spoon the nut mix into the cavity of the pears and create mounds on nuts on each pear.
  8. Put the baking dish with the pears into the oven until cooked through, approximately 25 – 30 minutes (depending on the ripeness of the pears).
  9. Delicious served straight away with fresh organic cream, ice cream or yoghurt.  Or serve cold with a porridge the next day or as a snack.  They will last up to 3 days in the fridge.  Enjoy!
