 DOSE Runnings' Delicious Dairy Free Pesto

Our gorgeous running coach, Scarlett at DOSE Running gave me this quick and easy, delicious recipe and it’s too good not to share!  Dairy free, full of wonderful, gut and cell loving nutrients, it goes with everything! Fish, eggs, lamb and salads, whatever you enjoy it’s a wonderful accompaniment.  I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. 

DOSE Runnings' Delicious Dairy Free Pesto
Preparation:  5 minutes

Quantity:  Approx. 1 cup


  • 1/2 cup macadamia nuts roughly made into nut ‘meal’ in a high speed blender *
  • 1/2 cup cashew nut meal roughly made into nut ‘meal’ in a high speed blender *
  • a generous bunch of kale leaves (approx. 2 leaves) *
  • a generous bunch of fresh herbs e.g. basil, parsley or coriander
  • A good pinch of sea salt
  • a wedge of lemon, de seeded & skin on
  • 1 large clove of garlic, peeled
  • 1 Tbsp nutritional yeast *
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 110g of olive oil


  1. Add all the ingredients into a high speed blender.
  2. Blend on high for approximately 20 – 30 seconds.  Scrape down the sides and blend again, repeat  until you get your desired consistency.
  3. Taste and add more of any ingredient that might be needed e.g. salt, lemon, olive oil or apple cider vinegar.
  4. Transfer into a dish to enjoy with your meal immediately or into a jar in the fridge for a later time.

* Notes;

  • If you’re not familiar with nutritional yeast and okay with dairy, replace with approximately 30g of parmesan cheese.
  • Brazil nuts, sunflower seeds or pepitas can also be used in place of macadamias and cashews.
  • English spinach can be used in place of Kale if preferred.
